Business World glitters at Gold Awards, 2013.

Business World magazine raked in four prizes, at the weekend, to emerge the media house with the highest number of awards at the second edition of the Gold Awards for Business Journalism.

The country’s leading business magazine was adjudged, for the second consecutive time, the winner of the coveted Business Magazine of the Year.

Business World’s CEO, Mr. Kofi Mangesi said; “we’re delighted by this recognition of our hard work. The business community’s appreciation of our work, both in terms of our content and layout, will spur us on to continually improve upon what we do and to deliver more quality to our readers.”

Mr. Emmanuel Kwablah, Editor of the magazine received two awards as winner of the Mining, Oil and Gas Reporter, and the SME Reporter of the Year categories, while Nana Amoto-Mensah was adjudged the best Financial Reporter of the Year 2013.

Head of the Award Jury and Corporate Affairs Manager of Access Bank, Matilda Asante, highly commended the winning article in the SME category, ‘Manufacturing for West Africa: against the odds’ saying; “this is one of those exceptional articles that you would love to read over and over again. You read it a year from now and it would still be relevant.”

She disclosed that the jury received equally good and competitive entries based on facts and accurate figures coupled with in-depth analysis and relevant research.

The Gold Awards for Business Journalism is an industry award that seeks to reward business journalists and media houses for their outstanding performance in the year under review.

The coveted award requires that the journalist or media house is consistent in delivering unique and quality content to their targeted audiences in the year under review.

Rebecca Awuah of GTV was awarded the Overall Business Journalist of the Year, 2013, bringing her total prize haul to three.

Mr. Elijah Iposu, Project Director for Gold Awards, congratulated all award winners, challenging them to improve their investigative and analytical abilities so as to properly and intensely scrutinize policies and practices to engender transparency in Ghana’s business environment.
