Ecobank Ghana wins CIMG bank of the year for the 3rd time

ECOBANK Ghana has emerged the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Bank of the year for 2015 at the 27th National Marketing Performance Awards.

This makes it one of the first companies to win the award for three consecutive times since the inception of the National Marketing Performance Awards Scheme.

The event, held on Saturday at the State Banquet Hall was under the theme ‘Democracy and National Cohesion: Marketing a new political paradigm.’

Speaking at the ceremony,National President of CIMG, Mr Kojo Mattah charged politicians in Ghana to be decent, honest and selfless in their bid to run the affairs of the state.

He said the CIMG was aware of the fact that Ghana was in the period of national elections “when our democracy will once again be tested.”

“Let’s all collectively allow good reasoning and maturity to underpin our actions during this period of intense political activities,” Mr Mattah appealed.

The event held at the Banquet Hall in Accra last Saturday was on the theme ‘Democracy and National Cohesion; Marketing a new political paradigm.’

“Ours is a call for our political leaders to make sure they chart a path of nobility, honesty and selflessness that can make our sacrifices over the years beneficial to all,” he said.

The CIMG president described conflicts, destruction, poverty, deprivation and death as hallmarks of intolerance and negative practices in politics, reminding Ghanaians about the need to learn from happenings in the rest of Africa.

According to him, Ghanaians should learn from those experiences and decide on the path that leads to tolerance, peace and progress.

The CIMG Marketing Awards Scheme was instituted to reward and improve on the performance of individuals and corporate organisations.

The organisers have resolved always to be progressive, innovative and responsive to emerging trends within the marketing environment in particular and the business environment in general.

Mr Mattah pointed out that the manner in which the awards were done guaranteed that excellence was rewarded and ensured that “that excellence is beneficial to the industry and leads to the development of globally recognised professionals and corporates.”

The Institute further appealed to Ghanaian businesses and marketing practitioners to ensure that they operate within the confines of laid-down rules so as to eliminate conflict which retards progress and breeds poverty.

The ‘Marketing Man of the Year’ went to Mr Patrick Kwame Akorli, Managing Director of Goil while the ‘Marketing Woman of the Year’ was picked by Ms Maidie Elizabeth Arkutu, Managing Director of Unilever.

Other winners included Japan Motors Ghana Limited which won the Motor Firm of the year 2015, and Vanguard Insurance going home with the Insurance Company of the Year for 2015 among others.
