Ecobank pays GH¢240m dividend to shareholders

ECOBANK Ghana Limited has announced a payment of GH¢240.4 million as dividend to shareholders for the 2017 financial year.

To this end, shareholders  would receive 82 pesewas per share as dividend payment for the 2016 financial year.

According to a circular from the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), all shareholders registered in the books of the company at the close of business on Friday, April 21 2017 will qualify for the final dividend.

The ex-dividend date has however been set as Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

Consequently, an investor purchasing Ecobank Ghana shares before this date will be entitled to the final dividend.

But, an investor buying Enterprise shares on or after Wednesday, 19th April, 2017 will not be entitled to the final dividend.

The final dividend will however be paid on Friday, May 26 2017.

Ecobank Ghana is one of the active stocks on the Ghana Stock Exchange. It is presently trading at GH¢7.30 per share.

Ecobank Ghana saw its profit dropping marginally to GH¢325.5 million in 2016 compared with GH¢327.5 million in 2015.

While return on assets was 4.45 percent in the last financial year, return on equity was 35.37 per cent. Its total assets stood at GH¢ 8.052 billion at the end of December 2016 whereas total liabilities was GH¢7.03 billion.

Non-performing loans declined from 18.01 percent in 2015 to 11.90 percent in 2016. Liquidity ratio also improved from 69.86 percent in 2015 to 73.44 percent in 2016.
