Energy Bank CEO Wins Award

Managing Director of Energy Commercial Bank, Christina Ekaete Olaoye, has been recognized as the Business Leader of the Year, West Africa (Banking and Finance category) at the maiden West Africa Business Excellence Awards.

Mrs. Olaoye was recognized for her exemplary leadership in the banking and finance industry in Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Ghana, as well as her enormous contribution to the growth of the organizations she has managed.

The award is one of the numerous she has received in her over two-year stay in Ghana, including the Most Outstanding Foreign Banking Executive Award by the Feminine Ghana Achievement Award and UNESCO endorsed Women Development Award.

Mrs Olaoye said she was excited that her exemplary leadership is recognized wherever she goes, adding “she is committed to working hard to ensure the growth of Energy Commercial Bank, the Ghanaian economy and West Africa as a whole.”

“I’m passionate about the work I do. I believe that God has given us wisdom and knowledge to impact on our society, and I’m therefore committed to delivering exceptional leadership wherever I go,” she emphasized.

Other award-winners were Henry Oroh, MD/CEO of Zenith Bank, who was recognized as the Corporate Personality of the Year, West Africa and Aretha Duku, MD of Ghana Union Assurance, who won the Business Leader of the Year, West Africa, Insurance category

Institutions such as Vodafone, GHACEM, Ecobank won the Customer Experience Telecom of the Year Award, Cement Manufacturer of the Year Award and Digital Experience Bank of the Year Award.

The West Africa Business Excellence Awards (WABEA) provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies that play a significant role in the development of various sectors in the West Africa region to attract investors.

The awards recognize the industry’s merits and set a benchmark for excellence whilst rewarding innovative ideas.

The awards recognize excellence in industries, sectors and individual/personality excellence.
