Entrepreneurial funding workshop to come off on Nov. 25

A workshop to tutor entrepreneurs on how to access funds from various sources to start or expand their businesses will come off on November 25th at East Legon, Accra.

Organised by Avery Scott, an office solutions provider, the one-day intensive workshop will have four experienced financial and branding experts take participants through the top-10 funding options available to start-ups, growing businesses, and established firms looking for funding.

As the first in a series of workshops to transform the entrepreneurial landscape in the country and beyond, this workshop with morning and afternoon sessions is under the theme ‘Best strategy for business funding’.

Pamela Sarkodee, CEO of Avery Scott, noted that the workshop is to help entrepreneurs acquire skills to be able to access funding, and educate them on the many ways of getting funds for their businesses.

“Many businesses see debt or loans from financial institutions as the only source of funds, but this workshop will focus on other sources like venture capital, private equity, grants, crowd funding and other investment possibilities,” she said.

She added that apart from sourcing for funds, subsequent workshops will target capacity building, managerial skills, marketing and public relations, human resources and other entrepreneurial aspects that require development.

The workshop will be facilitated by Bernard Kelvin Clive, CEO of BKC Consult. He is a personal branding coach and strategist. As a lifestyle entrepreneur, he has authored about 20 books on branding and entrepreneurship.

Speakers include Winslow Sackeyfio, Head of Research and Corporate Advisory at FirstBanc Financial services, an intergraded investment banking firm. He will be speaking on the topic ‘What makes a successful application, structure, content and social impact’.

Speaking on crowd funding is Robert Yakohene, Head of Research and Development at UT Bank. He is responsible for strategic business development activities, market research activities, intelligence information-gathering activities, economics research activities, and feasibility research activities.

Jan Reijer, Managing Director at Firm Factory Africa, will be speaking about funding opportunities available with his organisation. Firm Factory Africa provides research support, facilitates Euro/Africa joint ventures, provides links to investors, and helps African businesses grow.
