The first National Economic Forum, slated for June this year, has been rescheduled to an earlier date. It will now come off in the second week of May 2014, Vice President Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur has stated.
President Mahama last week announced government will, from this year, commence a National Economic Forum.
The move is to bring together all stakeholders, comprising all political parties, civil society, private sector, labour and government, to brainstorm on the economy.
Mr. Amissah Arthur said government will be prepared to share findings from the economic dialogue with the European Union as a way of garnering support from the EU for government’s economic programmes aimed at addressing the country’s current economic challenges.
He explained; ”we have agreed that on our side we will have a national conference on the economy, we are holding it in the week of 19 to 22 May, we hope we will be able to get a national consensus of the difficult measures that we have to implement to achieve the objective of the 2014 budget” .
The country’s current Economic challenges has been a source of worry for Ghana’s international partners who have at various platforms harangued solutions, some of which are considered severe.
