The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) in a notice last week stated it was inviting applications from qualified companies for the construction of a third terminal at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA).
The project, which is expected to be completed by December 2015, is to facilitate handling of up to five million passengers per year and also have VIP facilities.
Passenger output at the KIA has been increasing year by year for the past five years. It handled more than one and half million international passengers in 2013.
Domestic passenger numbers have also been rising very fast; from 540,000 in 2012 to 770,000 in 2013.
