GOIL to construct 13.5m capacity storage facility in Port of Takoradi

Managing Director of Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) Patrick Akorlie has hinted that the company is putting up a 13.5 million storage facility at Port Takoradi to aid the oil and gas industry.

He also revealed plans for investing in the construction of a bitumen plant to aid road construction in the country.

The absence of a bitumen plant in the country means that bitumen, which is an essential product used in road construction, is currently being imported.

But the GOIL MD believes the company will soon construct the bitumen plant locally—the first of its kind—to support the booming real estate and construction sectors.

Mr. Akorlie, touching on GOIL’s growth and expansion drive in an interview, revealed that the company has increased its fuel stations from 165 to 280 with the last two years.

This, according to him, affirms the level of public confidence in the company as it continues to supply quality fuel to the Ghanaian market and the aviation industry at a lower cost.

“ENI GHANA is a giant in the oil and gas industry and sources fuel from us because of our fuel-quality,” he said.

GOIL reduced fuel prices by GHC0.80p per gallon during the Easter festivities, and according to the director that decision formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility as a way of cushioning consumers over the festive period.
