GTBank named 2016 most innovative Bank in Africa … Group MD/CEO also adjudged Africa’s Banker of the Year

 

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc., parent company of three times winner of the “Technology Advanced Bank of the Year” award in Ghana – Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, has been named ‘2016 Most Innovative Bank in Africa’ by the African Banker Magazine at the African Banker Awards held in Lusaka, Zambia.

The Award is in recognition of the various platforms deployed by the bank to make banking easily accessible and convenient for its customers across the continent and beyond.

The Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, Mr. Segun Agbaje, was also once again named ‘Africa’s Banker of the Year’ at the same prestigious 2016 African Banker Awards ceremony.

Commenting on the awards, Mr. Segun Agbaje stated that: “We are delighted and honored to be recognised as the Most Innovative Bank in Africa. Bank *737#, the latest of such innovative solutions, is a game changer that provides a platform for customers and non-customers to buy phone credits for themselves (and for family and friends); check account balances; transfer funds between their accounts and PIN change; pay utility bills – Surfline, DStv, Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG); postpaid bills and Ghana Water Company Limited.

Other functions include making enquiries such as branch and ATM location, making transfers to any GTBank account and transfers unto pre-paid cards and mobile money wallets. Customers can change or reset PINs and activate the *737# service i.e. for those who are yet to do so.

Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited, a subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, was recently awarded the “Technology Advanced Bank of the Year” for the third consecutive year at the just-ended Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards 2016 in Accra.

Also for the second time running, the bank was adjudged ‘E-Banking Service of the Year 2016’ in recognition of the bank’s convenient and reliable electronic banking solutions.

At the 11th Ghana-Africa Business Awards held in Accra over the weekend, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited was presented with the Silver Award in the ‘Financial Services’ (Banking) category in recognition of its impressive contribution to the development of Ghana within the context of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD).
