The Ghana Water Company Limited is set to introduce a pre-paid metering system by the end of this year.
Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Collins Dauda said the system will be one of the most effective ways of getting revenue to make commercial State Owned Enterprises viable
This, he added will empower the company to secure loans with its own resources without relying on government.
The minister appealed to the general public for its full support to ensure the success of the pilot project expected to be rolled out in some parts of Accra and Kumasi
It is hoped that the introduction of the prepaid metering system will curtail the commercial and physical losses incurred by the company.
