Justice Gifty Dekyem swears in new IHRMP governing council

Her Ladyship Justice Gifty Dekyem, Justice of the High Court, Industrial & Labour Division, Accra, has sworn in 7 newly elected Governing Council Members of the Institute of Human Resources Management Practitioners (IHRMP), Ghana.

The swearing in was done at a short but impressive ceremony on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the HR Centre, Nyaniba Estate, Accra.

Presenting the newly elected members to be sworn in, the Executive Director of IHRMP, Mr. Ebenezer Agbettor said he was confident in the expertise of the new officials.

“With the exception of one person joining as a new Councilor, the rest were already serving on the Council. In other words, they are not handing over to any new team but continuing from where they left off,” he said.

The 7 elected executive members are: Mr. John Wilson – President; Mr. Andy Okrah- Vice President; Dr. Edward Kwapong-Executive member; Nana Yaa Twum-Executive member; Leonard Quarcoopome-Executive member; Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Asiedu-Executive member and Mrs. Susana Manu- the newly joined Executive member.

In his acceptance speech, the President of IHRMP, Mr. John Wilson said that a lot of people challenges being encountered by Corporate Ghana, especially strikes actions, can be traced to a number of unqualified officials managing HR departments of organizations, especially in the public sector.

He appealed to organizations to hire HR Professionals who have obtained quality training from the IHRMP to minimize future occurrences of this strike actions and other related HR challenges.

Mr. Wilson assured members that he and his team will work harder to improve on the previous achievements by setting and completing new targets and standards using the past 2-years record as the new base and not repeat the same level.

“In our first term, we worked assiduously to deliver a Growth Plan dubbed 3+1 translated into 4 thematic areas of Expansion, Visibility, Capacity and Culture. I am happy to report that these have been significantly fulfilled and during our 2nd term, we shall take it to another level at Phase II by completing and consolidating all actions and plans. We shall look at the priority areas under each of the Pillars and tackle them aggressively”, Mr. John Wilson said.
