Kennedy is CEO of Phembani Group, which recently merged with Shanduka Group. He has over 25 years of experience in banking and financial services, having served in the position as CEO of Barclays Africa Limited (a member of ABSA Group) and Chief Executive of Standard Bank of South Africa (SBSA) Corporate and Investment Bank.
Kennedy served as the founding Chairman of Credit Suisse Standard Securities, and Chairman of the Standard Bank Community Banking Unit. He served as National President of the Association of Black Securities & Investment Professionals and was one of ten negotiators in the formulation of the Financial Services Charter in 2003.
In addition to his position at Phembani, Kennedy is also a non-executive director of Kangra Coal (Pty) Limited and Lonmin PLC Board.
