Kenya Airways wins ‘Airline Operator of the Year’

Nairobi-based Kenya Airways has won the ‘Airline Operator of the Year’ award at the maiden National Aviation Awards held in Accra.

The award was in recognition of the airline’s consistent excellence in customer service, commercial planning and distribution, as well as the airline’s marketing drive during the last 12 months.

The National Aviation Awards recognises distinctions exhibited in every classification of the aviation industry.

These categories are wide-ranging and stretches from domestic and international airline operators, to service providers, travel and tourism companies, insurance and supportive financial institutions, and airport operations.

Kenya Airways (KQ) currently operates daily flights between Accra and Kenya with on-ward connections to several destinations in Africa, Asia and the Gulf among others.

The Nairobi-based airline is offering special deals to Ghanaian travelers who book their seats ahead of their trip.

Passengers can purchase a ticket for as low as US$560 to Nairobi by booking their flights ahead of time

This is part of the airline’s commitment to enhancing customer experience and improving its commercial business with flexible ticket price offering.

In a related development, the airline has appointed Jan de Vegt as its Chief Operations Officer effective August 1, 2016.

Mr Vegt joins KQ from Cobalt Ground Solutions in the UK where he is currently the managing director.

He replaces Mr Guibert who took over the job from KQ’s Mbuvi Ngunze when he was promoted to head the airline beginning November 2014.
