Mahama insist he won’t overspend in 2016

President John Mahama has expressed his commitment to ensuring that government maintains its fiscal discipline, and not succumb to any election year pressures to overspend its budget.

He told a section of Ghanaian students studying in various institutions in India, and some members of the Ghanaian community in New Delhi, India, President Mahama said the IMF Programme is helping stabilise the economy.

President Mahama spoke about his Agenda for Transformation, and how Ghana’s relations with India will help push the Agenda.

The President who is in India to participate in the India-Africa Summit Forum noted that government is already working with India to produce sugar, and also revamp the western rail line.

President Mahama is reported to have held bilateral talks with the Indian Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, officials of the Indian EXIM Bank and the CEOs of a number of Indian businesses.
