MTN launches iFEST 2016

The sixth edition of MTN Internet Festival (iFest) has been launched as part of measures to promote the benefits of the network’s data and internet products.

This year’s edition is under the theme ‘Faster connectivity, smarter business’ and it is aimed at promoting MTN’s data and internet prowess following the successful launch of the 4G service a month ago.

“The idea is to introduce the network to those who don’t yet have it, educate people in various markets and those who have not yet started using our services. We want to create the awareness that we have solutions that meets every business and personal need and to demonstrate to our customers how to utilise these services,” Asher Khan, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana, said at the launch of the iFest 2016 in Accra.

This year’s festival is valid from now until August 13, 2016.

Within this period, customers who buy data package above GH₵10 will receive 400 percent bonus. The gesture is to aid subscribers’ access the internet with ease and at a giveaway prize.

Mr. Khan noted that good internet service is important in today’s world as it facilitates “our daily life activities,” adding that the internet is now at the core of several activities in both personal and professional life.

According to the National Communication Authority, MTN is presently the leader in the data market with a market share of 49.25percent and over nine million subscribers as at April 2016.

This year’s iFest comes with new innovations such as a programme to support fresh graduates in the ICT sector and business incubation programmes with support from MTN Ghana Foundation and Multimedia Incubation Center.

Other activities include a tweetathon with key personalities, market storms and engagements within trade unions.
