Planned fuel increment is not our doing- BDCs

The Ghana Chamber of Bulk Distribution Companies (BDCs) have said they have no hand in the planned 15% increase in petroleum products scheduled for Wednesday July 1.
According to the BDCs, the increase is as a result of the routine price reviews by the National Petroleum Authority.

Petroleum products are expected to go up by between 10 and 15% beginning tomorrow.

The increase, according to sources, is aimed at clearing debts owed the BDCs by the government.

The changes were thought to be part of the price liberalization being implemented by the government.

Chief Executive Officer of the chamber Senyo Hosi said determination of prices is still in the hands of the NPA.

“The chamber is not responsible for pricing as at now. We have no hand in the new price reviews. Currently, with BDCs and OMCs our prices and contract margins are regulated and predetermined,” he said.
