PZ Cussons adds to skin-care line

One of the country’s leading fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies, PZ Cussons Ghana, has expanded its Imperial Leather brand from its base portfolio of ‘washing’ into a total skin-care range.

Added to the newly-improved Imperial Leather bar soap, is shower gel, the antiperspirant deodorant roll-ons and body sprays, and the Imperial Leather body lotion.

There is also the Imperial Leather male range of products that targets only men for healthy skin.

The Imperial Leather brand has existed for over 60 years on the Ghanaian market, and has seen tremendous transformation aimed at satisfying the skin-care needs of customers.

In his address at the Imperial Leather brand relaunch in Accra, Business Unit Director-PZ Cussons, David Afflu stressed the company’s dedication to providing for the personal home and skin-care needs of consumers at all times.

He said this with reference to the company’s growth in revenue over the years — but particularly last year, at a time when the country’s economy was fluctuating.

Mr. Afflu recounted: “Even with the cedi’s high rate of depreciation, forex losses and the influx of cheaper substitutes, PZ Cussons has remained strong — ending the 2015 financial year with an appreciable 19 percent growth”.

He also pledged, on behalf of the company, to remain innovative and give consumers something new from time to time to suit their individual preferences.

In an interview with the B&FT at the event, Minister for Private Sector Development and PPP Rashid Pelpuo commended the company for its innovative approach that will, according to him, cause the economy to grow further.

He noted: “Government is very keen on seeing more of such happenings in the industries, because when businesses expand, taxes expand; more people are employed, and the economy is the greatest beneficiary.

“It is for this reason the Presidency is organising an SME financing fair in March this year, to discuss crucial issues on SME financing spaces,” the minister reiterated.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to open the fair and exhibition, which will also feature various fora with the aim of bringing various stakeholders to help address financial challenges facing Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and to help create the enabling environment for SMEs to grow.

PZ Cussons Ghana Limited w has been in existence for over 75 years, and is also the distributor of a range pharmaceutical products — currently venturing into the electrical business by being a distributor for the Haier Thermocool and Sony brands.
