Starbow resumes Tamale flights

Aero Surveys Limited, operators of Starbow, has re-launched its domestic flight services between Accra and Tamale, after a short break due to various challenges.

The Chief Executive Officer of the airline, Eric James Antwi assured the travelling public of the sustainability of its operations to the Northern part of the country.

“I can assure the Tamale people that this is not going to stop, the suspension of our flights was due to circumstances beyond our control but now we’re back and we’re not going to stop today or tomorrow,” he said.

The airline will operate once-daily flight on its newly-acquired Avro RJ Jet until Friday October 7, 2016 at a promotional price of GH¢ 325. It will thereafter operate two daily flights between Accra and Tamale.

The airline recently acquired a 97-seater Avro RJ Jet to augment its fleet as it looks to expand its operations in the West African sub-region.

The Avro RJ plane has four engines and can make steep approaches and short take-offs. This makes it safer in the event of an engine being lost as 75% of total thrust will still available.

The equipment also allows for higher overall thrust while still running each engine at lower power, which reduces noise.

These features make them suitable for use in domestic airports in the country such as Sunyani and Takoradi, as well as other airports in the sub-region with shorter runways.

The airline is expected to resume its Sunyani flights in the coming weeks.
