Support local industries for accelerated development- Asantehene

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has reinforced the need to fully actualise the local content law and support the growth of local industries for accelerated development.

He said this would not only build the confidence of the local businessman but help create tailor-made jobs to address the specific needs of Ghanaians.

The Asantehene made the appeal when the management of Golden Pride Savings and Loans Limited paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace where it donated GH¢5,000 in support of the Otumfuo Education Foundation.

The company also presented a quantity of Otumfuo-branded exercise books to support the foundation.

Golden Pride Savings and Loans Limited, with its head office in Obuasi, is owned by the Ghana Mines Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC).

It has eight branches in the country with a plan to open a ninth one in Kumasi soon.

Securing workers investment

The Board Chairman of the company, Mr Prince William Ankrah, said measures had been put in place to secure the investment of workers and avoid what had happened to some microfinance companies.

He reckoned that the non-financial industry of the country was undergoing some challenges but indicated that the prospects were bright.
