In a bid to become the digital service provider of choice in Ghana, Tigo has commenced an overhead fibre project in the Western Region to provide a lasting solution to frequent network interruptions in the region.
Speaking at a sod cutting ceremony at Bogoso in the Prestea-Huni Valley district, the CEO of Tigo Ghana, Roshi Motman said the 360 kilometre long project to link Takoradi and Kumasi, is expected to put an end to network interruptions due to frequent fibre cuts from on-going road construction works as well as the activities of illegal miners in the area.
She said the project, which will be completed in March 2015, forms part of several investments the company is making to provide a quality and reliable network to its customers across the country.
In a speech, the chief of Bogoso Kokoase, Nana Kwesi Sompreh, called on corporate organizations to support educational programmes in communities where they operate, to increase literacy and promote development.
