Tigo unveils new tagline to promote digital lifestyle agenda

Ghana’s first mobile telecom operator, Tigo Ghana has launched a new tagline to reflect its new digital lifestyle agenda.

According to the network operator, the new tagline, dubbed ‘Live it. Love it’, which replaces ‘Smile, you’ve got Tigo’, seeks to boost the level of internet penetration in Ghana as part of the company’s digital agenda.

“The new tagline ‘Live it. Love it’ is not just an advertising slogan; it is a new approach and a new direction for us,” the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tigo, Ms Roshi Motman, said, adding, “The tagline reflects our ambition to improve internet penetration in the country, and to make the internet and all the amazing features it comes with, a way of life for Ghanaians.”

According to the CEO, the company has been able to keep pace with all digital technology changes over the past 24 years since its inception in Ghana in 1992 under the brand Mobitel.

She said since 2014, the company had embarked on a remarkable transformational agenda to become the brand of choice for digital users in Ghana.

The Tigo CEO added that in achieving such success, the company did “a complete overhaul of its business model, focusing on building a business with a long-term strategy and some quick wins.”

“To be able to get where we are today, we had to invest millions of cedis in building a stable and reliable network. Our network availability has improved from 88 to 99% within one year,” she added.

Tigo Ghana recently built an ultra-modern data centre to house its network infrastructure. The facility also has adequate room to host and store data for other companies.

In 2015, it invested $24 million to expand network coverage and improve internet connectivity across the country.

This investment had Tigo adding on 275 cell sites to boost its network quality and capacity within the Greater Accra, Ashanti and Western regions.

Ms Motman explained that they have completely changed their product portfolios and introduced new products “for today’s digital savvy customer and have sanitized and simplified all our products and services.”

“Today, our brand is loved by many. We look and feel different from what we used to be,” she said.

She noted that Tigo also gained the attention of all industry players and Ghanaians because “we have become smarter in the way we do business, and are attractive to top professionals, investors, partners, suppliers and most importantly to customers.”

“As Ghana’s first mobile network operator, we remain committed to staying on the cutting edge of technology, bringing firsts that empower every Ghanaian to do more with digital technology. It’s something we call the digital lifestyle agenda.”

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Minister of Communications, Ato Sarpong, commended Tigo for helping to improve the telecom sector of the country.

“At the Ministry of Communications, we are excited at what Tigo is doing,” he added
