UMB courts Osu Night Market vendors

Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) organised a business seminar for vendors of the Osu Night Market as part of strategies to expand its SME banking services to the informal sector of the economy.

Relationship managers from the Business Banking department of UMB outlined some of the bank’s bespoke SME products, and they also discussed how UMB can assist them to grow their businesses and manage their resources in a more efficient manner.

UMB’s Head of Business Banking, Ernest Tetteh, stated that UMB is consistently looking for innovative ways to help SMEs become more competitive and profitable.

“It is estimated that more than 86 percent of all employment in Ghana is in the informal sector, which is largely comprised of sole proprietors. This seminar is an indication of our commitment to grow this important sector of the economy by providing them with relevant products and capacity building resources.”

Director of Marketing and Communications at UMB Yvonne Botchey also stated: “Our aim is to enhance their already well-developed business acumen and to be a partner that assists them in taking their businesses to the next level”.
