The Volta River Authority (VRA) has launched two books to commemorate its 50th Anniversary.

The books, Lake of Life and Field Guide to the Volta River Basin were both written by Professor Edward Ayensu, a former Chairman of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research who is now a Development Advisor on Science and Technology to the Africa Development Bank

The Lake of Life celebrates the first 50years of the VRA with emphasis on energy infrastructure development and strategic focus on the VRA’s contribution to the economy of Ghana.

The Field Guide to the Volta River Basin serves as a primer to attract students and tourists to the rich flora and fauna of the Volta Basin, thus helping to celebrate the great diversity of the Volta Lake Basin.

Speaking at the launch, which  took place at the Holiday Inn Hotel, immediate past Chief Executive Officer of the VRA, Kweku Andoh Awotwi said the books were ultimately about “memories and legacy—to pass on to our children and our children’s children; to be reminded of what is possible when leaders have a vision and perseverance; and a people strive for excellence.
