‘When you’re free’ feature makes google’s calender app smarter

Google has incorporated a new feature ‘when you’re free’ that will make finding time to do things so much simpler.

This has been added to all personal Google accounts when scheduling an event.

Even though smartphone screens are getting bigger, finding a free slot on a schedule or agenda still means an awful lot of scrolling and swiping.

To combat this, and to help people fit more into their day, Google’s calendar app now automatically displays dates when you are free and can suggest slots based on time between appointments.

After choosing what day an event is on, Google Calendar will list 30 minute time increments throughout the day. Periods that have a conflict still show up with the name of the conflicting event appearing underneath.

Google Calendar on the web has long had a visual timeline to easily find free times. Unlike the “find a time” feature on Google Apps for Work, there is no conflict resolution for events added by other people.

The version v5.5.7 of Google Calendar with its ‘When You’re Free’ functionality is live now on the Play store for everyone to download.
